Dobersberg airfield
The Flugplatz Dobersberg lies two kilometres west of the village of Dobersberg in the Waldviertel region of Lower Austria. It is a small grass airfield used mainly by light aircraft and gliders. The surrounding countryside is rolling farmland and forest, typical of the Waldviertel plateau. The airfield began in 1969 when the Union Fliegergruppe Waldviertel started flying from a temporary strip. Final operating permission arrived on 27 December 1970. In 2004 the runway was resurfaced and a new hangar and fuel station were built. Today it remains a local centre for private and club flying. Visitors find a single asphalt runway with grass margins and a small apron. A modern hangar houses club aircraft and maintenance bays. Beyond the fence, fields stretch to distant woods under wide skies. The place is quiet except when planes take off or land on calm days.
