Seebadmuseum Travemünde

The Seebadmuseum Travemünde sits in Travemünde’s old society house on Torstraße, right by the market square. It tells the story of Lübeck’s seaside resort from 1802 to today. The building itself dates to the time when Travemünde first opened as a bathing place for visitors. Inside, films, listening posts and displays cover bathing costumes, fishing, shipping and aviation. These exhibits explain how Travemünde changed over the decades. The museum opened in 2007 and is run by the Travemünde local history society founded in 2003. A virtual tour was added after the International Museum Day in 2021. It begins with a 3D dolls-house view of the museum rooms. Visitors can then move through the same spaces online. The real museum shows the same themes on 180 square metres of floor space.
