Maurerkogel

The Maurerkogel is a mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps of the Eastern Alps. It stands in the state of Salzburg in Austria, close to the Schmittenhöhe. The summit offers wide views across the High Tauern National Park. The mountain is known for its clear panoramas of the national park and surrounding ranges. The route to the top passes through alpine meadows and rocky sections. Walkers reach a height where the valleys below appear small. At the summit visitors find a simple cross and a metal plate marking the point. The air is cooler than in the valley, and the sound of wind mixes with distant waterfalls. On clear days the peaks of the Hohe Tauern can be seen stretching along the horizon.
