Pfarrkirche Kapellen an der Mürz

The Pfarrkirche Kapellen is a Roman Catholic church in the village of Kapellen in Neuberg an der Mürz, Steiermark. It stands under Denkmalschutz and is dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antiochia. The church belongs to the deanery of Mürztal in the diocese of Graz-Seckau. First mentioned in 1329, the church was part of Neuberg Abbey until 1786. In 1788 it became a parish church. The building shows Gothic features such as a pointed west portal and a ribbed vault in the choir. The sacristy portal has wrought-iron fittings from the Gothic period. Inside, the high altar from the late 17th century has older scrollwork sides. The organ was built in 1875 by Friedrich Werner. The north chapel has a cross-vaulted ceiling. The church’s windows contain panes from 1887.
