Pfarrkirche zum heiligen Kreuz, Steinbrunn

The parish church of Steinbrunn stands on a hill above the village in Burgenland. It belongs to the deanery of Trausdorf and the diocese of Eisenstadt. The church has been protected as a monument since the 17th century. The church was first mentioned in 1359 and rebuilt after destruction in 1683. A major restoration took place in 1800, followed by interior work in 1958 and 1971. The building combines a Gothic core with early Baroque features. Visitors see a three-sided tower with a stone pyramid roof and low gables. The nave and choir have stepped buttresses and a five-sided apse. Inside, cross-ribbing and pilasters frame the space, while a west gallery with rococo railings spans two bays. A small cemetery beside the church contains a charnel house.
