Pfarrkirche Mariae Himmelfahrt in Pühret
The Pfarrkirche Rannariedl stands in the village of Pühret, part of Neustift im Mühlkreis in Upper Austria’s Mühlviertel. This Roman Catholic church, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, belongs to the Sarleinsbach deanery in the Diocese of Linz. It is protected as a listed monument, recognised for its architectural and historical value. The present building was designed by Karl von Tobisch-Labotýn and completed in 1953. Its five-bay nave and three-bay south aisle follow a historicising style, with round-arched windows and a plain stone tower topped by a pyramid roof. Inside, Franz Xaver Wirth created the artistic decoration, including a Trinity group carved around 1950. The organ, installed in 1974 with twelve stops, was built by Gregor Hradetzky. Visitors find a calm interior with Wirth’s figurative and ornamental designs on walls and ceiling. The 1974 Hradetzky organ remains in use, while a later Kaltenbrunner instrument from 2003 adds a second manual and eighteen registers. The church’s modest exterior and careful detailing offer a quiet space for reflection amid the rural landscape of the upper Mühlviertel.
