BrewDog Stadium
BrewDog Stadium stands in St Helens, Merseyside, on the site of a former glassworks. It replaced the old Knowsley Road ground and opened in 2012. The oval-roofed arena seats more than 18,000 and hosts both rugby league and women’s football. A Tesco Extra supermarket sits beside the stadium, built on cleared industrial land. The ground’s main entrance features a bronze statue of former captain Keiron Cunningham. The stadium has hosted major sporting events and concerts. St Helens R.F.C. won their first Super League match there 42–24 against Widnes. The venue has seen record crowds of nearly 18,000 and hosted Rugby League World Cup games. Liverpool F.C. Women moved in during 2024, sharing the pitch with the rugby club. A new Premier League-standard pitch was laid for their arrival. The stadium also stages large concerts, with acts like The Who performing to 25,000 fans. Inside, the South Stand holds the main facilities, while the North Stand displays the club’s name in seats. The East and West Stands provide terraced viewing for fans. A covered concourse protects spectators from wind and rain. The Steve Prescott Bridge links the ground to the town centre. Outside, the Saints badge and the town motto ‘Ex Terra Lucem’ mark the entrance.
