Pfarrkirche Pack

The Pfarrkirche Pack is a Roman Catholic parish church in the village of Pack, Steiermark. It stands beside a walled cemetery under Denkmalschutz. Its origins reach back to the mid-13th century, though the first written record dates from 1245. The present nave was built after 1766, replacing earlier structures. A thorough restoration of exterior and interior took place in 1978–79. The late-Gothic tower, with its tall pyramid roof, is set slightly forward at the west end. Inside, the four-bay nave is covered by a barrel vault on sturdy pilasters with heavy capitals. A three-bay west gallery projects forward beneath a small barrel vault. Most fittings belong to the 1766 period. The high altar displays the coat of arms of Raimund von Saurau. Two side altars flank the space, and the pulpit attributed to Johann Piringer shows reliefs of the Evangelists and Peter as fisherman. The 1773 organ by Ferdinand Schwarz remains in original condition and bears the Saurau arms. Rococo decoration fills the vaults and window reveals, including images of Church Fathers, saints, and King David behind the organ. A 1655 holy-water stoup is also preserved.
