Eintracht Frankfurt Museum

The Eintracht Frankfurt Museum stands inside the main grandstand of the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt am Main. It occupies space once used for club offices at the Riederwaldstadion before moving into the stadium built for the 2006 World Cup. Matthias Thoma has led the museum since its opening in November 2007. The collection began with the private archive of Heiner Stocke, a post-war board member, and grew after the Historical Museum Frankfurt mounted a football history exhibition in 1999. Supporters raised money to replicate the 1959 championship trophy and later the UEFA and DFB cups, prompting the club to create a dedicated museum. The museum’s displays show more than 300 objects across 430 square metres. Visitors see the 1899 founding charter of Frankfurter FC Victoria, the original ball from the 1960 European Cup final, trophies and Alex Meier’s 2014–15 top-scorer cannon. Special exhibitions have examined the First World War’s impact on Frankfurt sport, the 1925 Workers’ Olympics and the club’s missed and won German titles. The museum also investigates the club’s history under the Nazis, working with the Fritz Bauer Institute and placing Stolpersteine for murdered Jewish members. Guided tours lead through the collection, the stadium’s catacombs and the surrounding grounds, while city walks trace Eintracht’s past. Regular events bring former players and officials together, and school programmes explore political and historical themes. Publications and online features extend the research, and a single Stolperstein outside remembers Paul Blüthenthal, a pre-war patron.
