Klosterstraße 12, 12a, 12b

A former monastery stands in Wickrath, a district of Mönchengladbach. Built in the 15th century, it was later enlarged and altered in the late 17th century. The building now serves as an administrative office on Klosterstraße and is listed as a protected monument.
The structure began as part of a Cross-Bearer monastery before becoming a farm building. Its plain red-brick walls rise over two storeys with eleven unevenly spaced windows. A stone gateway on the left, made of Aachener Blaustein, once linked the monastery to this wing. Decorative metal ties mark the façade at regular intervals below the roof. The roof itself is a simple pitched design with a hanging eaves gutter.
Visitors approach through three separate entrances that divide the front into distinct sections. The brickwork and layout reflect the style of the late 17th or early 18th century. It forms part of the historic square ensemble around Wickrath Market and remains valued for its local history and urban design.
