Zopetkopf

The Zopetkopf is a mountain summit in the Venediger Group of the Hohe Tauern range in East Tyrol. It stands at the northern edge of the Wallhorn ridge, just above the village of Prägraten. The peak is a minor neighbour of the higher Zopetspitze to the south and the Gastacher Wände to the north.
Climbers reach the top by two classic routes first used in 1898 by Ludwig Prochaska and Heinrich von Ficker. One follows the green West Ridge from the Johannishütte, marked to 2 629 m before the final grassy crest. The other leaves the Scheidlscharte and tackles loose rock steps on the North-East Ridge.
From the summit visitors look down on the Zettalunitzkees glacier and the Zettalunitzbach stream to the north. To the east lies the remote Kleinitzalm pasture and its ice-covered lake in the Timmeltal valley. The narrow South Ridge links the Zopetkopf with the loftier Zopetspitze, offering a short scramble for those who wish to continue.
