Landschlösschen

Schloss Dürrenhof stands in Dürrenhof, a village that belongs to Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Mittelfranken. The building is a small country palace built in the late Baroque style. It was erected in 1755 for members of the patrician families of Rothenburg. Earlier records suggest the site once belonged to the Teutonic Order. The estate changed hands several times in the 17th and 18th centuries before the current palace took shape. The palace is a two-storey plastered structure with a mansard roof. Its attached barn, partly dating from the 16th century, was remodelled in 1762 and later extended. The barn’s steep roof and solid stone walls show the farm’s long working life. The fields around the estate still reflect the original agricultural purpose of the land. Visitors see a quiet country house set among gentle farmland. The main building’s clean lines and modest scale give it a refined air. The old barn stands nearby, its rough stonework contrasting with the smooth plaster of the palace. The surrounding fields stretch out under open skies, offering long views across Mittelfranken’s gentle countryside.
