Rohrer & Brammer

A small private theatre with its own restaurant once stood in Munich’s Schwabing quarter. The building had earlier housed Heppel & Ettlich, a pub that Rohrer and Brammer turned into a stage for live performances. The theatre opened in October 2009 with a stage version of Josef Hader’s film ‘Indien’, directed by Georg Büttel and starring Ferdinand Dörfler and Peter Weiß. The programme mixed short runs of cabaret, music and readings. Regular events included Eberhard Piltz’s political round-table on the first Sunday of each month, an unannounced ‘culture breakfast’ on the third Sunday, and young cabaret on the last Sunday. Martin Umbach, Marianne Sägebrecht and Timothy Peach were among the guest artists. Full-moon nights featured readings by invited writers. The theatre’s restaurant specialised in Alpine dishes under chef Andre Bahlo. After a dispute with the caterer the doors closed in May 2010. Before then the Bayerischer Rundfunk had twice recorded its R&B-Show at Rohrer & Brammer. The show later moved to the Wirtshaus im Schlachthof, where Susanne Rohrer and Christiane Brammer still host musicians from many genres.
