Sendeturm Waldenburg-Friedrichsberg

The Sender Waldenburg-Friedrichsberg stands on the Friedrichsberg ridge east of Waldenburg in the Hohenlohe district. It is a broadcasting tower for FM radio and television operated by Südwestrundfunk. A 150-metre reinforced-concrete and steel lattice mast replaced the former Waldenburg television tower, which was later converted into a water tower. The tower was built between September 2006 and September 2007 by Züblin. A separate operations building followed by May 2008. On 9 July 2008 a 16-metre fibreglass cylinder carrying the television antennas was lifted into place, completing the structure. The transmitter equipment was installed during summer 2008, and the site went live on 5 November 2008, introducing DVB-T to the Hohenlohe region. Visitors see the tall grey mast rising above the wooded ridge. A small operations building sits at its base. The tower serves mainly the districts of Heilbronn, Hohenlohekreis and Schwäbisch Hall, with signals reaching parts of Bavaria and eastern Württemberg.
