Schloss Trunkelsberg
Schloss Trunkelsberg stands in the village of Trunkelsberg near Memmingen in Bavaria’s Unterallgäu district. First mentioned in 1657, the estate began as a 16th-century building later remodelled by the Memminger patrician Wachter family. A steep gable added in the early 19th century gives the slate-roofed house its present appearance.
The house passed through several owners after the Wachters sold it in 1697, including the Neubronner family until 1718. Inside, the ground floor holds a rib-vaulted room while the upper floor features shouldered doorframes with entablatures and a ceiling adorned with flowing stucco. The family of von Heuß-Blößt has owned the property for three generations.
Set on a three-hectare site with mature trees, the castle lies close to the village church on the southeastern edge of Trunkelsberg. The grounds include an equestrian facility, linking the estate’s history with modern use.
