The Aquädukt Liesing is a protected structure of Vienna’s water supply system. It carries the First Vienna Spring Water Main across the Liesing valley in the 23rd district. The brick-built aqueduct runs for about 745 to 785 metres, spanning the river and several parallel roads.

It was erected between 1870 and 1873 by the London firm Antonio Gabrielli under the city’s building office. The vault of the water channel was made from conical bricks, capped with rubble paving and later coated with an asphalt mixture called Boschin. Today parts of the structure need steel grilles to stop larger masonry from falling.

Visitors find a long brick arcade supported by massive piers. The sides are lined with stone cornices and the deck above carries the water pipe. The surrounding streets bear names taken from the aqueduct itself.
