Pfarrkirche Auwiesen
The Pfarrkirche Auwiesen stands in the Linz district of Kleinmünchen in Upper Austria. This Roman Catholic church, dedicated to the blessed Marcel Callo, belongs to the Linz-Süd deanery within the Diocese of Linz. The building itself was originally a factory constructed in 1908 for the Rädler cotton spinning mill, later used by the Linzer Tuchfabrik Himmelreich & Zwicker. The conversion into a church and parish centre was completed in 1998 by Bernhard Schremmer, Helga Schremmer and Siegfried Jell. The bells are placed outside the building beside the factory chimney. Bishop Maximilian Aichern consecrated the church on 6 December 1998. The interior features a portrait of Marcel Callo by Peter Huemer and a painting of the Annunciation by Lydia Roppolt. Visitors find a modern church space created within the former industrial building. The exterior retains the factory’s tall chimney and industrial character. Inside, the altar area and seating are arranged to fit the converted structure. The artwork by Huemer and Roppolt adds a spiritual focus to the space. The surrounding area includes the residential streets of Kleinmünchen, giving a sense of the neighbourhood’s everyday life.
