Kapelle hl. Antonius von Padua in Quadratsch

The Chapel of St Anthony of Padua stands in Quadratsch, a small settlement in the municipality of Pians in the Austrian state of Tirol. Built in the late 17th century, the chapel has two bays under a barrel vault with lunettes and a five-sided apse. A small bell tower with a pointed roof rises above the west gable, marked with the year 1696. Its interior is notable for the ceiling paintings of 1901 by Alois Grissemann, who decorated the vault with ornamental patterns and scenes from the life of the saint. The high altar dates from the same period and features twisted columns, carved acanthus leaves, and paintings of Our Lady of Perpetual Help flanked by images of St Anthony and St Joseph. The wooden figures on the altar were carved by Jakob Auer, a recognised sculptor of the late 17th century. Visitors enter through a simple wooden door into a quiet, whitewashed space where the light falls gently on the painted vault. The altar dominates the east end, its dark wood contrasting with the pale walls. Outside, the chapel sits among farm buildings and meadows, its modest silhouette framed by the surrounding mountains.
