Sender Bodenheim

The Sender Bodenheim is a radio transmission facility run by Südwestrundfunk. It stands on open ground in the parish of Nackenheim, south-east of Bodenheim. A plain concrete tower carries the antennas that send the signals. The site used to broadcast both radio and television across the region. Analogue television for the Rhine plain left Bodenheim in the mid-2000s, moving to the Great Feldberg in the Taunus. Today the tower still feeds local FM radio to Bodenheim and parts of Mainz. Visitors see a tall, grey concrete mast rising from farmland. The tower has no public access, but the wide fields around it offer long views over vineyards and the river. A quiet lane leads close enough to read the Südwestrundfunk sign on the fence.
