Gschritt
The Gschritt is a 2,750-metre peak in the Villgratner range, straddling the border between the Tyrolean villages of St. Veit in Defereggen and Innervillgraten. It sits on the main ridge between the Traunleitenspitze to the south-west and the Rote Spitze to the north-east. Two high cols mark its flanks: the Plattetörl below the Traunleitenspitze and the Wangeslenke below the Rote Spitze. The Gamsburg and the Wangenschneide form further rocky outcrops on its northern and southern approaches. Climbers rate the summit as a straightforward scramble, graded I+ on the UIAA scale. The usual route starts in the Arntal valley, follows a marked path to the Wageslenke, then crosses alpine meadows to the Rotes Mandl. From this subsidiary top the final ridge leads to the summit. Other options include the South-East Ridge or a traverse from the Ragötzllenke via the Gamsburg. The surroundings offer sweeping views across the Defereggen valley and the Hohe Tauern beyond. The Oberstalleralm provides a sheltered resting place before the final climb. On clear days the Dolomites appear faintly to the south. The route is quiet, used mainly by locals and committed hill walkers.
