Dollfuß-Gedächtniskirche hl.Theresia vom Kinde Jesu

The Roman Catholic filial church in Rekawinkel stands east of the main road in the village of Rekawinkel, part of Pressbaum in Lower Austria. It belongs to the Pressbaum parish within the deanery of Purkersdorf and the vicariate of Unter dem Wienerwald in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The building is protected as a listed monument. Originally built in honour of Cardinal Friedrich Gustav Piffl, it was rededicated in 1935 to Engelbert Dollfuß, the murdered chancellor. The parish itself was established in 1952. Since September 2024 it has functioned as a filial church of Pressbaum parish after the two parishes were merged. The small church has a lower, recessed choir and a tower on the southern corner. A covered passage links it to the 1951 parish house. Outside, rough-hewn stonework, buttresses and a three-bay front with a statue of Saint Theresia mark the design. Inside, the roof timbers are left exposed. Stained glass from 1937 depicts Mary with the Christ Child, Saint Theresia, Saint Leopold, Saint Florian, Saint Joseph and Saint Engelbert. The high altar, dating from the mid-18th century, holds a baroque image of Mary with Child. A bust of Engelbert Dollfuß by Berchtold Matthias from 1935 stands in the porch.
