Ludwig-Leichhardt-Museum Trebatsch

The Ludwig Leichhardt Museum stands in Trebatsch, a village in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg. It opened in 1988 to mark the 175th birthday of Ludwig Leichhardt, the explorer who vanished in Australia in the 19th century. The small museum is run by a local association and contains four rooms. Outside, the Leichhardt Trail begins, a 54-kilometre cycling route through the surrounding countryside. The route links places tied to Leichhardt’s life and travels. Visitors can follow the trail by bike or simply explore the quiet lanes and fields around Trebatsch. The museum and trail together offer a quiet but meaningful way to remember an explorer’s legacy.
