Croxley tube station

Croxley station stands beside Watford Road in Croxley Green, a village within Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. It sits on the Watford branch of the Metropolitan line, between Watford and Moor Park stations, making it the only intermediate stop on that branch. The station opened in 1925 as Croxley Green but was renamed in 1949 to avoid confusion with another nearby station. Regular shuttles once ran to Rickmansworth, withdrawn in 1960 and later restored in 1987 with limited hours. Services now run to Amersham using longer S8 Stock trains. The station’s history reflects changes in local transport links. A planned extension called the Croxley Rail Link would have diverted services onto the old Watford and Rickmansworth Railway alignment. This project included building a viaduct over the Grand Union Canal, the River Gade and Watford Road. Work on the link stopped in 2017 because of funding issues. Visitors find a quiet station platform with straightforward access from Watford Road. Trains arrive every half-hour or so, linking Croxley to Watford, Moor Park and beyond. The surrounding area is residential, with footpaths leading towards the canal and the River Gade. The station building is small and functional, typical of many London Underground stops. There are no grand structures or tourist facilities here, just a practical stop for local journeys.
