Glasfelderkopf

The Glasfelderkopf is a 2,270-metre peak in the Allgäuer Alps, the southernmost summit in the Rauhhorn ridge. It stands between the Kesselspitz to the south-east and the Bärgündletal valley to the west, where its face drops steeply and smoothly. The Bockkarscharte col separates it from the Kesselspitz, while the Lärchwand offers another approach. Climbers reach the summit only by unmarked routes that demand sure-footedness and alpine experience. The two standard lines start from Bockkarscharte or Lärchwand, both requiring careful route-finding above 2,000 metres. The mountain’s smooth western flank and exposed ridges test even seasoned walkers. From the top the view stretches across the Allgäuer Alps and into the Bavarian foothills. The ridge to the north-east connects to the Rauhhorn, while the valley below shows the patchwork of Schwaben. The absence of crowds and waymarks adds to the sense of a remote, unspoilt summit.
