Pfarrhof Kirchberg am Wechsel

The former convent outbuildings stand beside the parish church on a terrace above the main square. The buildings form part of a protected ensemble with the church and the nearby convent. The irregular wings once belonged to a 15th-century canonesses’ foundation and now house the presbytery. The south-west wing is one to two storeys high over deep cellars. Inside, a steep staircase with uneven steps remains. The outside wall carries a 1530 fresco of the Crucifixion framed in Renaissance style and a 1722 inscription. A 1974 coat of arms above the north-west gate records later repairs to the former farm range. Between the presbytery and the church lies Florian-Kuntner-Platz, laid out in 2004 and relaid as a labyrinth in 2008 by architect Karl Ringhofer. The long north-west wing still shows wide barrel vaults with lunettes and a round-arched gateway linking to the convent.
