The parish church of St Leonard stands on the south-eastern edge of Ried village in the Oberinntal valley, surrounded by a graveyard. It belongs to the deanery of Prutz in the diocese of Innsbruck and is protected as an Austrian listed monument. Records first mention a church here in 1397, and the present building preserves a medieval core beneath its later layers.

The church was enlarged and remodelled in the Baroque style in 1715, giving it its current four-bay nave and lower polygonal choir. The south tower, originally Romanesque, has two tiers of coupled round-headed sound-openings with cushion capitals and a 19th-century pointed gable spire. Inside, the high altar of 1720 was carved by Michael Stämer with statues by Andreas Kölle and paintings by Franz Laukas, whose original layers were uncovered during the 1970s restoration.

Visitors enter through the three-bay west front, framed by pilasters and crowned by a painted triangular gable showing the Last Supper dated 1715. The choir’s late-Gothic triangular pilasters and the sacristy door frame the altar area, while the graveyard’s headstones slope gently up the hillside behind the church.
