Tegelberg

Tegelberg is a mountain in the Ammergau Alps, near Füssen in Bavaria. It stands close to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, about two kilometres away. The mountain has been a centre for hang gliding since the nineteen-seventies and for paragliding since the sport grew in Germany.
The FAI Hanggliding World Championship was held there in nineteen-eighty-three. Its open slopes and steady winds make it a recognised launch point for pilots. The ridge offers long flights over the alpine foothills and lakes below.
Visitors find wide paths and open meadows on the lower slopes. Above, the summit provides wide views across the Alps and towards the castles. The area remains quiet except when gliders fill the sky on good days.
