Mittlerer Spiegelkogel

The Mittlerer Spiegelkogel is a 3 311-metre peak in the Ötztal Alps of Austrian Tirol. It stands on the main ridge of the Ramolkam, a branch of the Schnalskam range. The summit lies between the Vordere Spiegelkogel to the north-west and the Hintere Spiegelkogel to the south-east. Climbers usually set out from the Ramolhaus hut, which sits below the Hintere Spiegelkogel when viewed from the mountain. The route then crosses the Spiegelferner glacier on the north-east flank before reaching the summit ridge. The peak is rarely crowded, giving a quiet alpine experience. From the top there are wide views across the Gurgler Tal and the surrounding Ötztal Alps. The Ramolhaus itself offers basic overnight accommodation for those who want to watch the sunset or sunrise from the high ridge. The contrast between the ice of the glacier and the dry stone of the peaks makes the climb memorable.
