Pfarrkirche Maria Dornach, Kamering
The parish church of Kamering stands at the northern edge of the small village of Kamering in the municipality of Paternion, Carinthia. It is dedicated to Mary of Dornach and belongs to the deanery of Spittal an der Drau. The church and its adjoining cemetery are protected as historic monuments. The building combines different styles: a Baroque nave, a Gothic choir with Baroque windows, and a wooden east tower capped by a pointed helmet. Inside, the flat wooden ceiling of the nave gives way to a Gothic ribbed vault in the single-bay choir. Traces of a 1493 oil-berg mural survive south of the chancel arch, and a late-Gothic sacristy door bears wrought-iron fittings. The interior houses a neogothic high altar by Franz Schmalzl from 1892, flanked by side altars with a baroque crucifix and statues of local saints. A late-15th-century bell hangs in the tower, and a carved figure of Saint Martin from the early 16th century is kept in storage. The cemetery south of the church is entered through a simple gateway of stone pillars.
