Burg Trossingen (Burgbühl)
The Burg Trossingen once stood on the Burgbühl hill northwest of Trossingen village, now in Deißlingen municipality. Built in the 14th century, it was destroyed soon after and left only faint traces. The site lies about one kilometre east of the A 81 motorway exit at Villingen-Schwenningen, hidden inside a forest. The ruins themselves are little more than low earthworks and scattered stones, yet they mark the spot where the medieval stronghold once rose. A sign near the remains explains the site’s history, though the text is patchy and partly worn away. A wide gravel drive leads in from the road, and a few weathered posts still point toward the hilltop clearing. Visitors walk a short path through beech and pine woods to reach the open plateau. From the centre of the clearing the ground falls away gently in all directions, giving wide views over the surrounding farmland. The quiet woodland and the faint lines of the old foundations are all that remain of the once important stronghold.
