Park Avenue

Park Avenue stands in Aberystwyth beside the River Rheidol and close to the shore of Cardigan Bay. It has been the home of Aberystwyth Town football club since 1907. The ground holds five thousand spectators and uses a 4G artificial pitch. UEFA granted it Category 2 status in May 2021 after an inspection by Scott Struthers. A bar inside the ground is named after John Charles, who played for Wales. The stadium sits next to the old railway line that once ran from Carmarthen to Aberystwyth. The ground has five distinct areas, each with its own name. The Railway End recalls the vanished railway, while the Dias Stand honours a former club legend. The Rhun Owens Stand remembers a long-serving secretary, and the Shed End and Narks Corner complete the layout. The club has hosted the Welsh League Cup final eleven times on this pitch. A hospitality room was renamed the Lolfa Emyr James after a board member who died in 2018. Visitors find a modern stadium with a single stand and open terraces. The John Charles Bar offers refreshments inside the ground. Beyond the pitch, the river and bay provide a scenic backdrop. The Railway End still shows traces of the old line’s embankment. The Dias Stand holds the main seating while the Rhun Owens Stand runs along one side. The Shed End and Narks Corner frame the remaining open areas.
