The small Baroque parish church of Saints John and Paul stands in Jakling, a hamlet near St Andrä in the Lavant valley of southern Austria. It belongs to the Gurk-Klagenfurt diocese and shelters under national heritage protection. A single bell tower rises beside the narrow choir, its paired sound openings framed by a steep slate spire.

Inside, the two-bay nave is roofed with a barrel vault broken by lunettes and plaster ribs. The one-bay choir ends in five sides and carries a simple cross-vault. Below the tower, a sacristy repeats the same vaulting. The high altar, carved between 1720 and 1730, shows a carved relief of Anna Selbdritt. Side altars bear early 18th-century paintings of Saint Blaise and Saint Valentine, while a 1775 votive panel preserves a vanished view of the village.

The church’s modest scale and refined fittings speak of a quiet 18th-century craftsmanship. Plain white walls focus attention on the altarpieces and statues of Saints Philip and James. A single window lights the choir, throwing clear light on the crisp plasterwork. Outside, the surrounding fields and scattered farmsteads frame the little building without distraction.
