Burg Schussenried (old pharmacy)

The Burg Schussenried stands in Bad Schussenried, a spa town in the Biberach district of Baden-Württemberg. Built around 1170, it was once a medieval fortress but now only traces remain. The site lies near the Alte Apotheke, where the old pharmacy building marks its former location.

The ruins are worth visiting for their historical significance. The castle once belonged to the Lords of Schussenried, who played a key role in the region’s medieval history. Though nothing of the structure survives today, the site is recognised as an important archaeological point.

Visitors find a quiet open space where the castle once stood. A small information board explains the site’s history. Nearby, the Alte Apotheke building adds a touch of old-world charm. The surroundings are peaceful, making it a reflective spot for history lovers.
