Daxberg

Daxberg is a hill in southern Behamberg, a village in Lower Austria. It rises 595 metres above sea level and is the highest point in the municipality. A forest covers the summit and the slopes, while meadows and farmland lie around the base. The Panoramaweg 335 climbs from the village centre past the Hubertuskapelle to the top. From the summit visitors look out over Steyr and the Alpine foothills.

The route is well marked and stays close to the woodland edge for most of the way. Near the chapel a side path branches off to the Leitner-Badhofer-Weg, which turns the climb into a longer loop. The path is wide enough for walkers and cyclists, and the trees provide shade in summer. The views grow wider as the path rises, opening onto the valley below.

At the summit a small clearing offers room to rest and enjoy the panorama. The forest thins here and there, giving glimpses of the distant hills. The path continues south along the ridge before descending back toward the village. The whole loop takes about two hours for a fit walker, less for those on mountain bikes.
