Stadtpfarrkirche Traun

The Catholic parish church in Traun stands in the St Dionysen district of the Upper Austrian town. Built between 1882 and 1890 to designs by Raimund Jeblinger, it is a three-aisled Gothic Revival structure topped by a tall west tower with a pointed spire. The interior and exterior were restored between 2014 and 2015, preserving its historic character. Inside, the church’s Gothic Revival furnishings follow Jeblinger’s plans, with most of the carved woodwork executed by Josef Kepplinger. Three late-15th-century wooden statues of saints stand above the nave walls. The altar area was renewed in 2014 by Katarina Matiasek. The organ, built by Leopold Breinbauer in 1890, contains 1,134 pipes ranging from 8 mm to 5.25 m and was restored in 1989. Visitors enter through the west tower porch into a broad nave lined with Gothic Revival detailing. The chancel holds the new altar and the restored Breinbauer organ, its casing also carved by Kepplinger. The late-medieval statues above the nave arches add a quiet historical presence to the otherwise 19th-century interior.
