Kath. Filialkirche

The old parish church of Trieben stands in the town of Trieben, in the Liezen district of Styria. A Roman Catholic filial church under the patronage of Saint Andrew, it belongs to the Admont deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese. The building is protected as a listed monument. The church dates back to 1160, with the present Gothic structure completed in 1449 and consecrated in 1454. After damage in 1480, it was rebuilt by 1498. The nave was altered in the late 17th century, and after a fire in 1858 the vault was restored the following year. A major restoration took place between 1956 and 1958. Inside, the three-bay nave has a barrel vault with lunettes on plain pilasters. The west portal is pointed and richly moulded, with an iron door, while the sacristy portal is round-arched. The northern chapel is rib-vaulted with early 18th-century stucco. The Gothic choir ends in a two-sixths apse with stellar ribbing on partly truncated octagonal shafts and round keystones, one carved with the head of Christ. The high altar, from the late 17th century, bears the coat of arms of Abbot Raimund Rehling. A late medieval wooden figure of the Virgin, reworked in the Baroque period, stands between statues of Saints Peter and Paul.
