Schloss Neuses am Sand stands in the village of Neuses am Sand, part of Prichsenstadt in Lower Franconia. Once a moated castle with four towers, only two outer towers and the inner courtyard’s stair tower remain today. The site passed through several noble families after its first recorded owners in 1498, the Fuchs von Bimbach and von Seinsheim. The castle’s history is marked by marriages and inheritances that shaped its ownership. The Fuchs family’s restored coat of arms greets visitors at the entrance. A 1682 weather vane on the stair tower shows Philipp Gaston Graf Wolf von Wolfsthal’s name and his family’s wolf emblem. After the Wolfsthal line died out in 1717, the Schönborn-Wiesentheid counts took over, leaving the Wolfsthal arms on the stair tower portal to this day. Today the castle operates as Wörners Schloss, a wellness hotel and restaurant with an attached vineyard. The stair tower and two outer towers still rise above the inner courtyard. Guests walk past historic coats of arms and the 17th-century weather vane while enjoying modern comforts. The surrounding village sits in gentle Franconian countryside, offering quiet walks between vineyards and fields.
