Burgstall Reinsburg

The Burgstall Reinsburg stands on a narrow ridge above the Bühlertal valley near Reinsberg in Baden-Württemberg. The site once formed a spur castle defended by two deep ditches on the eastern side. Traces of earthworks and a large rubble slope mark where the walls once stood. The castle passed from the Schenken von Limpurg to Schwäbisch Hall in 1562. Fire destroyed four-fifths of the hamlet in 1695 and again in 1945. Today only grassy mounds and shallow trenches remain of the former stronghold. Visitors walk along the ridge where the castle once rose above the valley. The view stretches across the rolling hills of the region. Below, the rubble slope descends toward the winding road that links Reinsberg with Unterscheffach.
