Twickenham Stoop

Twickenham Stoop stands beside Twickenham Stadium in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is a rugby stadium and the home ground of Harlequins in Premiership Rugby. The ground began as a 14-acre athletics field in 1963 and was renamed after club legend Adrian Stoop. In 2005 it became Twickenham Stoop Stadium, though fans still call it The Stoop. The site is owned outright by Harlequin Estates, a club subsidiary. The Stoop has staged major rugby events including the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup final and England Women’s Six Nations matches. It hosted the 2009 Rugby League Four Nations game between New Zealand and Australia, drawing 12,360 spectators. Elton John and Little Mix have performed concerts here since 2017. The stadium’s four stands bear the names of sponsors and house bars, shops and lounges. Temporary seating and memorials to players add character to the venue. Visitors find the Accounts IQ Stand with changing rooms, a Members’ Bar and club offices. The DHL Stand holds the main public bar, Debenture Lounge and a children’s play area. The Fullers London Pride Stand serves real ale and the North Stand offers an indoor seating area. Outside, the car park and turnstiles have been upgraded to improve access. The stadium’s redevelopment programme continues to refresh seating and public spaces block by block.
