Mainzer Kammerspiele

The Mainzer Kammerspiele is a private theatre in Mainz founded in 1986 by several professional actors. It stands in Fort Malakoff Park, a green space in the city centre. The theatre focuses on contemporary drama and related arts. Each season brings more than 200 performances, with an average of seven new productions premiering yearly. Nine resident ensembles present plays, experimental theatre, contemporary ballet, revues and children’s musicals. A special effort is made to stage first and world premieres of living authors alongside the company’s own creations. The programme is enriched by guest appearances from well-known artists and ensembles during festivals such as the puppet theatre festival and the children’s theatre festival. Known events like Chanson de Luxe also take place here. About 30,000 visitors attend each season, and the stage can be hired for private events.
