Maistaller Berg

The Maistaller Berg rises 998 metres above sea level in the Brandenberger Alps, where it forms the boundary between the Tirolian villages of Kufstein, Thiersee and Langkampfen. At its summit the Pfrillsee lies in a small hollow, while the Stimmersee sits at the southern foot of the mountain. No inn or other building stands on the summit plateau, which is covered by forest and gentle slopes. A forest road climbs from the Dreibrunnenjoch above Vorderthiersee to within a few metres of the flat, wooded summit. The route passes the Marblinger Höhe pass at 683 metres, where the Thiersee-Straße crosses between Morsbach and Hippichl. The name Maistaller Berg comes from the nearby Langkampfen district called Maistall. Visitors reach the summit along the forest track and find open woodland with wide views across the Brandenberger Alps. The Pfrillsee below the summit reflects the surrounding peaks, while the Stimmersee to the south adds a second stretch of water to the scene. No buildings interrupt the quiet of the mountain top, only the rustle of trees and the calls of birds.
