Museum Mineralogia Munich
The Museum Reich der Kristalle is the public face of Munich’s State Mineralogical Collection. It sits inside the arts complex built on the old Türkenkaserne barracks site. The building belongs to the State Natural Science Collections of Bavaria. Visitors find models that explain mineralogical and crystallographic terms. Displays also highlight minerals from Bavaria’s own geology. The collection is more than a single gallery. A small permanent display introduces basic ideas of mineralogy. A larger showroom regularly hosts special exhibitions on particular themes or discoveries. Labels give clear explanations so newcomers can follow the science. Inside, cases hold sparkling crystals from Alpine veins and Bavarian quarries. The lighting shows each specimen’s colour and form. Outside, the building’s former barracks walls remain part of the entrance hall. The space feels calm, letting the minerals take centre stage.
