Park Hall

Park Hall stands to the north-east of Oswestry in Shropshire, a football stadium built on the site of an old army sports ground. The ground opened in 1993 for Oswestry Town before the club merged with Total Network Solutions F.C. in 2003. The merged side, now called The New Saints, moved back to Park Hall in 2007 after redevelopment. The stadium has hosted UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches, as well as youth international fixtures for England and Wales. Light industries and housing surround the ground in Whittington civil parish. The ground’s history includes financial struggles, a name change from Total Network Solutions to The New Saints, and a legal battle with UEFA over Welsh representation. After renovations, Park Hall met UEFA’s seated capacity requirement of 1,000 for European matches in 2009. The New Saints have played unbeaten at home between November 2012 and July 2015. The venue also stages qualifiers for other Welsh Premier League teams when their own grounds fall short. Visitors find a modern stadium with artificial Ligaturf installed during redevelopment. The ground hosts The New Saints’ home games and occasional European qualifiers. England schools’ teams have played there, including matches against the Republic of Ireland and Wales. Nearby, Oswestry Boys Club and Oswestry Town Lions use the pitch for community football.
