A' Chrois

A’ Chrois is a mountain in the Arrochar Alps, 3.2 kilometres north-east of Arrochar village beside Loch Long. The ridge runs from Ben Arthur The Cobbler in the south through Beinn Narnain to A’ Chrois in the north. Glen Loin and Loch Lomond lie to the east of the ridge, giving wide views. The mountain is classed as a Corbett Top of Beinn Narnain, standing 848.7 metres above sea level. It is worth the journey because the Arrochar Alps sit within easy reach of Glasgow. The area is technically in the Highlands yet remains accessible from heavily populated lowland towns. Walkers often combine A’ Chrois with nearby peaks such as Beinn Narnain or Succoth. The ridge also offers the eastern gateway to the full range of the Arrochar Alps. Visitors find a long, narrow ridge with steep sides and a flat summit plateau. The climb from Succoth follows a clear path up Beinn Narnain before joining the ridge to A’ Chrois. From the top there are views over Loch Long and across to Ben Arthur The Cobbler. The surrounding glens and lochs add to the dramatic scenery of the area.
