Pfarrkirche Etsdorf

The Roman Catholic parish church of Etsdorf am Kamp stands beside the main road through the village in the municipality of Grafenegg in Lower Austria. It is dedicated to Saint James the Greater and belongs to the deanery of Hadersdorf-Wagram in the vicariate of the Archdiocese of Vienna. The church is protected as a listed monument.
A vicariate was recorded in the first half of the 12th century and the parish appears in a document from 1231 as a fief of Passau diocese. In 1803 the parish became a state parish. The building combines a medieval core with a Baroque nave, a Gothic choir altered in the Baroque period and a Baroque west tower.
Inside, the high altar from about 1770 rises in three tiers behind the altar table and shows a painting of Saint James by Josef Kessler from 1876. The organ with ten stops was built by Gerhard Hradetzky in 1976. The church sits among farm buildings and vineyards on the Kamp valley floor.
