Pfarrkirche St. Jakob in Haus

The parish church of St Jakob in Haus stands on the northern edge of the village in the municipality of St Jakob in Haus, in the district of Kitzbühel, Tirol. It belongs to the deanery of St Johann in Tirol in the archdiocese of Salzburg. The church and its cemetery are protected as historic monuments.
The church dates back to at least 1018, with the first written record in 1309. After a devastating avalanche in the 17th century, the church was rebuilt in 1689, retaining its Gothic core. The simple nave, covered by a low-pitched roof, leads to a slightly recessed polygonal choir. The north tower, with its painted corner quoin and round-headed sound openings, carries a pointed spire added in 1699.
Inside, the three-bay nave has a barrel vault with lunettes on chamfered wall piers. The choir is separated by a transverse arch and vaulted with pointed lunettes on pilasters. Ceiling paintings by Johann Endfelder from 1844 depict scenes from the life of St Jakob. The high altar, altered in the early 19th century, features figures by Georg Faistenberger and an altarpiece by Ignaz Faistenberger. The church’s fourteen baroque niche shrines line the cemetery wall, each showing a station of the cross.
