Theater tri-bühne

Theater tri-bühne is a private theatre in Stuttgart that has been staging plays since 1975. It began as a free group before moving into a permanent space in the Tagblatt-Turm-Areal in 1979. In 2003 the building was rebuilt and renamed Haus ‘Unterm Turm’, where two stages now operate side by side. The theatre’s reputation rests on its wide repertoire and international links. Up to ten productions appear each season, ranging from Sophocles and Shakespeare to modern works and experimental pieces. Edith Koerber led the theatre for forty years until 2023, when László Bagossy and Stefan Kirchknopf took charge. The theatre also runs the biennial Stuttgarter Europa-Theatertreffen and collaborates with partners such as the Katona József Theater in Budapest and the Teatro Avenida in Maputo. Visitors find two flexible auditoriums inside Haus ‘Unterm Turm’. The original Blackbox seats up to 109 people with free seating, while the newer stage holds 154 with fixed rows. Outside, the annual open-air performance in Stuttgart’s Schlosshof brings drama to the heart of the city during the Kultursommer festival.
