The Evangelical Church in Mondsee stands in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. It serves as the parish church for the local Evangelical congregation. The building belongs to the Evangelical Superintendentur A. B. Upper Austria.
The church’s origins trace back to the end of the Second World War. Many Evangelical Christians arrived in Mondsee as refugees. In 1951, a daughter congregation was formed, initially holding services in private homes and schoolrooms. The Catholic parish and the Diocese of Linz later provided the Hilfbergkirche for worship. Construction of the current church began in 1975, largely funded by the Evangelical State Church of Württemberg. The architect Heller designed a complex that includes both the church and a community centre, with an asymmetrically placed tower.
Visitors find a modern ensemble of buildings set in the town’s landscape. The church and community house share a single site, linked by the distinctive tower. The design balances functional space with a modest yet striking appearance. The surroundings reflect the quiet character of Mondsee, a village known for its scenic setting. The church remains a place of worship and community gathering for the local Evangelical community.
