The Queen Victoria monument stands on the Königin-Viktoria-Berg hill in Hochheim am Main’s vineyards, two kilometres south-east of the town centre. It overlooks the Main river from a height of about ninety-five metres, where a small spring feeds water into a basin on the south side of the stonework. The railway line from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt passes directly below, making the monument easy to spot from passing trains.

The monument was raised in 1854 to mark Queen Victoria’s 1845 visit to Hochheim and her 1850 decision to allow the vineyard to bear her name. Its rectangular base is topped by four small turrets and a Gothic section in the Tudor style. The front bears the inscription ‘KÖNIGIN VICTORIA BERG’, the royal coat of arms, and the motto ‘DIEU ET MON DROIT’. The rear shows a wine-press relief, the English crown, and the date ‘WINDSOR CASTLE V. DEC. MDCCCL’.

Visitors reach the site along vineyard paths that climb gently to the terrace around the monument. A low stone balustrade frames views across the Main valley and the surrounding Rheingau vineyards. The small garden planted in the 1850s still surrounds the base, offering a quiet place to pause before the wide sweep of the river below.
