RevuePalast Ruhr

The RevuePalast Ruhr was a travesty theatre in Herten, part of the Regierungsbezirk Münster. It occupied the protected former heating plant of the Ewald coal mine, closed in 2001. The building’s industrial architecture gave the venue a striking setting. The theatre opened in October 2009 with the show “Voilà,” inspired by Paris, Berlin and Hamburg revues. Christian Stratmann, brother of the cabaret artist Ludger Stratmann, ran the theatre. It staged productions such as “Magic Moments,” “Viva Las Vegas” and the “Galanacht der Travestie.” A monthly programme called “Ganze Kerle” celebrated female audiences. Visitors found a large auditorium with 290 seats and the smaller “Untertagebar” with 90 seats. The bar hosted live broadcasts like the ARD Sportschau Club after football matches. The stage also welcomed guest artists including Marc Marshall, Pharo and Wolf Codera.
